The Most Affordable Cosmetic Fix — Done Right

Dental bonding is one of the most versatile and accessible cosmetic treatments available — composite resin is applied directly to the tooth surface, sculpted to the right shape, hardened with a curing light, and polished to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. The entire procedure is completed in a single visit, requires no anesthesia for most cases, and removes virtually no enamel.

At Ocean Breeze, bonding is planned by Dr. Nicholas Goetz — a fellowship-trained prosthodontist who evaluates the shade, shape, and bite impact of every bonding case. For patients considering multiple teeth or combining bonding with other cosmetic treatments, Dr. Goetz sequences the work so bonding complements the final result rather than creating inconsistencies later.

What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding uses composite resin — a tooth-colored material made from a mix of plastic and fine glass particles — applied directly to the tooth and cured with a UV light. The resin is carefully shade-matched to your natural tooth color, then sculpted to the correct shape before hardening. Unlike veneers or crowns, bonding requires no laboratory fabrication and minimal to no enamel removal. It’s the most conservative cosmetic option available for addressing chips, cracks, gaps, and discoloration.

Bonding is not permanent — it typically lasts 3–10 years depending on location, bite habits, and how well it’s maintained. Teeth that bear heavy chewing forces (like molars) tend to see shorter longevity than front teeth. Dr. Goetz evaluates which teeth are good candidates for bonding vs. those that may be better served long-term by veneers or crowns.

Bonding Services We Offer

Dental bonding can fix a surprising range of cosmetic concerns — often in a single visit. Here’s what Dr. Goetz treats most often with composite resin bonding at our Delray Beach office.

Chip & Crack Repair

A chipped or cracked tooth can happen from a hard bite, sports impact, or just everyday wear. Bonding repairs the break seamlessly — composite resin is applied to fill the gap, shaped to match the surrounding tooth, and polished to blend in. Most chip repairs take 30 to 60 minutes with no drilling required.

Gap Closure

Small spaces or gaps between front teeth (diastemas) can often be closed without orthodontics. Bonding widens one or both adjacent teeth with a thin layer of resin, narrowing the gap for a more even smile. It’s a non-invasive option when the gap is cosmetic rather than bite-related.

Discoloration & Staining

When whitening alone won’t address intrinsic staining — such as tetracycline discoloration, fluorosis marks, or dark spots that developed from within the tooth — bonding can mask the affected area with a matched shade of composite resin. The result is a uniform, natural-looking color without crowns or veneers.

Tooth Shape & Size Correction

Teeth that are naturally short, pointed, uneven, or mismatched in size can be reshaped with bonding. Composite resin is added to extend or widen a tooth, smooth irregular edges, or even out a smile that looks unbalanced. This is often a faster and less invasive alternative to veneers when only one or two teeth need correction.

Meet Dr. Nicholas Goetz

Dental bonding is a precision procedure — the resin shade, layering, and final sculpt all affect how the result looks and how long it holds. Dr. Nicholas Goetz brings a level of training that goes well beyond general cosmetic dentistry.

Dr. Goetz holds a DMD and MS from the University of Florida, where he completed his Prosthodontic Residency, and went on to complete a Maxillofacial Prosthodontics Fellowship at UCLA — training that focused on complex facial and oral reconstruction. He is one of approximately 150 board-certified maxillofacial prosthodontists in the United States, and his background includes clinical work with U.S. Army and VA Medical Hospital patients.

For bonding patients, that depth of training translates to better color matching, more accurate contouring, and results that hold up over time.

Your Dental Bonding Appointment

1

Shade Selection & Preparation

Dr. Goetz uses a shade guide to select the composite resin color that best matches your surrounding teeth. The tooth surface is lightly etched and a conditioning liquid is applied — this helps the resin bond securely. No drilling is needed for most cosmetic bonding procedures.
2

Resin Application

The composite resin is applied in thin layers directly to the tooth surface. Dr. Goetz works the material to build up the desired shape — whether filling a chip, extending a short tooth, or covering a stain. This step requires careful sculpting to ensure the final contour feels natural against your bite.
3

Curing & Hardening

Once the resin is shaped, a UV curing light is held over the tooth to harden the material in seconds. Each layer is cured individually. The hardened composite bonds firmly to the tooth enamel and is immediately durable — you can bite and chew normally before leaving the office.
4

Polish & Bite Check

After curing, Dr. Goetz trims, shapes, and polishes the resin until the surface matches the sheen of your natural enamel. You’ll bite down on articulating paper so any high spots can be adjusted — the goal is a result that looks invisible and feels completely normal.

FAQs

Dental Bonding FAQs

How long will the implant post and crown last?
Dental bonding in Delray Beach typically costs between $200 and $600 per tooth, depending on the size and complexity of the treatment. Minor chip repairs tend to fall at the lower end; more extensive reshaping or gap closure may be higher. Bonding is generally the most affordable cosmetic dental option available — it costs significantly less than porcelain veneers and can often be completed in a single visit.
With good oral hygiene and regular professional cleanings, dental bonding typically lasts 3 to 10 years before it may need to be touched up or replaced. Longevity depends on where the bonding is placed, your bite, and habits like chewing hard foods or biting fingernails. Front teeth bonding used for cosmetic purposes generally holds up well when maintained properly.
For most cosmetic bonding procedures, no anesthesia is needed. The process involves light etching of the enamel surface and application of resin — there’s no drilling and no removal of tooth structure in most cases. Patients occasionally report mild sensitivity if the bonding is placed near the gum line, but the procedure itself is generally well tolerated.
Bonding is a good fit for patients who want a noticeable improvement without the cost or commitment of veneers. Veneers are made from porcelain in a dental lab, offer a longer lifespan (10–20 years), and can address more significant cosmetic concerns across multiple teeth. Bonding is applied chairside in one visit and is easier to repair if chipped. Dr. Goetz will help you understand which approach makes sense based on your specific goals, tooth condition, and budget.
Dental bonding is generally not covered by insurance when performed for cosmetic reasons. If the bonding is repairing structural damage — such as a fractured tooth or decay — some plans may offer partial coverage. Ocean Breeze Prosthodontics offers financing options to help make treatment accessible regardless of insurance status. We’re happy to discuss payment options at your consultation.
