A Smile Designed Around You, Not Just Your Teeth

Porcelain veneers are one of the most transformative treatments in cosmetic dentistry, but only when they are planned by someone who understands the whole picture. Most cosmetic dentists treat veneers as a surface-level fix. Dr. Goetz evaluates how your veneers will interact with your bite, your existing restorations, your gum tissue, and your facial structure. The result is a smile that does not just look different — it functions better and lasts longer.

At Ocean Breeze Prosthodontics, every veneer case begins with a full digital evaluation and smile design preview so you see your projected results before any treatment begins. View our full range of cosmetic dentistry services in Boynton Beach.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin ceramic shells — typically 0.5mm — custom-fabricated to bond to the front surface of your teeth. They correct color, shape, size, and minor alignment in a single treatment, producing results that look and feel like natural teeth. Porcelain resists staining better than natural enamel and reflects light in a way that mimics healthy tooth structure.

Treatment typically requires 2–3 appointments. At the first visit, Dr. Goetz prepares the teeth by removing a minimal layer of enamel and takes digital impressions. Your custom veneers are fabricated in the lab, then bonded permanently at your second visit. With proper care, porcelain veneers typically last 10–20 years.

Veneer Options We Offer

Every veneer case is custom-planned from the number of veneers to the shade, length, and shape. Dr. Goetz evaluates the full picture before recommending an approach. Each option below suits different goals and budgets.

Porcelain Veneers

Traditional porcelain veneers are the gold standard for cosmetic smile transformation. Custom-crafted from high-quality ceramic at a dental lab, they offer the most precise color match, the most natural light reflection, and the longest lifespan of any veneer option. They require a minimal amount of enamel preparation and are permanently bonded, making them the most durable choice for patients seeking lasting results.

Composite Veneers

Composite veneers are applied chairside in a single visit using tooth-colored resin bonded directly to the tooth surface, with no lab fabrication required. They are a practical option when the cosmetic concern is minor or when cost is a primary consideration, though they typically have a shorter lifespan than porcelain and are more prone to staining over time.

Minimal-Prep Veneers

Minimal-prep or no-prep veneers remove little to no enamel before placement, making them a reversible option for some patients. They work best when teeth are already close to the desired position and size. Dr. Goetz evaluates whether minimal-prep veneers are appropriate based on your tooth anatomy and cosmetic goals.

Veneer Smile Makeovers

When multiple teeth need improvement, veneers are often placed as a set across the upper front teeth — typically 6 to 10 — for a coordinated result. Dr. Goetz plans each veneer smile makeover with attention to the shape, proportion, and color of your full smile rather than treating each tooth in isolation.

Meet Dr. Nicholas Goetz

Porcelain veneers demand an understanding of more than just aesthetics — the thickness, translucency, and bite load on each shell must be planned with precision. Dr. Nicholas Goetz brings a level of training that goes well beyond cosmetic dentistry.

Dr. Goetz holds a DMD and MS from the University of Florida, where he completed his Prosthodontic Residency, and went on to complete a Maxillofacial Prosthodontics Fellowship at UCLA. He is one of approximately 150 board-certified maxillofacial prosthodontists in the United States, with clinical experience from U.S. Army and VA Medical Hospital settings.

For veneer patients, that background means every case is evaluated from a functional standpoint — not just a cosmetic one.

Your Porcelain Veneer Treatment, Step by Step

1

Consultation & Smile Design

Dr. Goetz reviews your teeth, bite, and facial proportions before recommending a veneer plan. He discusses your cosmetic goals in detail — shade preferences, tooth shape, and how many veneers make sense for the result you want. Digital photographs and impressions may be taken at this stage to inform the design.
2

Tooth Preparation & Impressions

A small amount of enamel — typically 0.3 to 0.5mm — is removed from the front surface of each tooth to create space for the veneer. Precise impressions are taken and sent to the dental lab. Temporary veneers are placed to protect your prepared teeth while the permanent restorations are being fabricated, which typically takes one to two weeks.
3

Temporary Veneers & Lab Fabrication

Your permanent veneers are custom-fabricated at a dental lab from high-quality porcelain matched to your approved shade and shape. While you wait, temporary veneers protect your prepared teeth and give you a preview of the final result. This stage typically takes one to two weeks.
4

Bonding & Final Fitting

When your permanent veneers arrive from the lab, the temporaries are removed and each veneer is test-fitted before bonding. Dr. Goetz checks the color, fit, and bite carefully and makes any final adjustments. Once approved, the veneers are permanently bonded with dental cement and cured with a UV light. A final polish completes the process.

Porcelain Veneers FAQs

How Long Do Porcelain Veneers Last?
With proper care, porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 20 years. Longevity depends on your oral hygiene habits, whether you grind your teeth, and the placement and bite forces involved. Patients who maintain regular cleanings, avoid habits like biting hard objects, and wear a nightguard if needed tend to see the best long-term outcomes.
Good candidates are patients with healthy teeth and gums who want to improve the color, shape, or minor alignment of their front teeth. Veneers work best when the underlying teeth are structurally sound — they are a cosmetic solution, not a restorative one. Patients who grind their teeth heavily may need a nightguard to protect their veneers. Dr. Goetz evaluates each case individually and will let you know if veneers are the right fit or if another approach makes more sense.
Most patients find the veneer process very manageable. Local anesthetic is used during the tooth preparation appointment, so you should not feel pain during enamel removal. Some mild sensitivity in the days after preparation is normal while wearing temporaries. The bonding appointment involves no drilling and is generally comfortable. Dr. Goetz takes time to ensure you are at ease throughout the process.
Veneers can create the appearance of straighter teeth by covering mild crowding or slight rotation, but they do not move teeth. For significant misalignment, orthodontic treatment is the more appropriate path. Dr. Goetz will be straightforward with you about whether veneers can achieve your goals or whether another approach would serve you better long-term.
Porcelain veneers are considered a cosmetic procedure and are generally not covered by dental insurance. However, Ocean Breeze Prosthodontics offers financing through CareCredit, Cherry, and Alpheon to make treatment accessible. Our team will walk you through all available options at your consultation so you can make a plan that works for your budget.
